March 19, 2020-Dickinson County

Dickinson County values the well-being and health of our county employees and the public we serve. Safety is one of our main priorities.

As stated in earlier press releases Dickinson County has implemented safety protocols in regards to COVID-19 (the coronavirus). Dickinson County has implemented the following additional safety protocols and will go into effect as of March 20, 2020 at the start of the business day.

Dickinson County is in continuous contact with the Dickinson-Iron Health Department and the Dickinson County Emergency Management Team.

In order to protect our staff and the public, Dickinson County has taking the following additional protocols:

1. Limited access to the Dickinson County Courthouse and Veterans Affairs Department Office. All departments will be closed to the general public, only admittance will be by appointment only for business that cannot be handled via mail, email or phone or by extreme emergency determined by the Department Head. Additionally, Trial courts are ordered to limit access to courtrooms and other spaces to no more than 10 persons, including staff, and to practice social distancing and limit court activity to only essential functions. This protocol will stay in effect until further notice.

2. Screening all individuals entering the Courthouse. Individuals who are ill or have a fever at or in excess of 100 degrees Fahrenheit will be prohibited from advancing through the screening area. This protocol will remain in effect until further notice.

The best prevention for viruses, such as influenza, the common cold or COVID-19 is to:

• Wash your hands often with soap and warm water for 20 seconds. If not available, use hand sanitizer.

• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.

• Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or upper sleeve when coughing or sneezing.

• Avoid contact with people who are sick.

Beginning Oct 1, 2020, all US residents will need to present a REAL ID compliant document to fly anywhere in the US and enter certain Federal facilities under Federal law.  Go to your local Secretary of State office to get your STAR on your drivers license.


The Dickinson County Board of Commissioners ahs passed an amended version of the Dickinson County Michigan Park Ordinance.  The Public will have the opportunity to comment and give feedback on the amended version until April 2nd.  Pleae send all communication and feedback via email to bbousley@dickinsoncountymi.gov.   Thank You.

RECREATIONAL PLAN
Dickinson County is in the process of preparing the 2020 to 2024 Recreational Plan.  This plan is currently in draft form and seeking public comment on the plan.  All comments can be sent to the Dickinson County Controlelrs Office to bbousley@dickinsoncountymi.gov
We will hold this public comment open until April 6th 2020.  We would truly appreciate your comments.

The Finance Committee meetings are always the 3rh Thursday of the Month at 6:00 PM. at the Courthouse in the Commissioners room.
