 COVID-19 PREPAREDNESS AND RESPONSE PLAN

 

Dickinson County values the well-being and health of our county employees and the public we serve. Safety is one of our main priorities.

Dickinson County has implemented safety protocols in regards to COVID-19 (the coronavirus). Dickinson County will continue the following  safety protocols until further notice. 

Dickinson County is in continuous contact with the Dickinson-Iron Health Department and the Dickinson County Emergency Management Team.

In order to protect our staff and the public, Dickinson County will continure the following  protocols:

1. Limited access to the Dickinson County Courthouse and Veterans Affairs Department Office. All departments will be closed to the general public, only admittance will be by appointment only for business that cannot be handled via mail, email or phone or by extreme emergency determined by the Department Head. Additionally, Trial courts are ordered to limit access to courtrooms and other spaces to no more than 10 persons, including staff, and to practice social distancing and limit court activity to only essential functions. This protocol will stay in effect until further notice.

2. Screening all individuals entering the Courthouse. Individuals who are ill or have a fever at or in excess of 100 degrees Fahrenheit will be prohibited from advancing through the screening area. This protocol will remain in effect until further notice.

The best prevention for viruses, such as influenza, the common cold or COVID-19 is to:

• Wash your hands often with soap and warm water for 20 seconds. If not available, use hand sanitizer.

• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.

• Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or upper sleeve when coughing or sneezing.

• Avoid contact with people who are sick.

There will be a regular meeting of the Dickinson County Board of Commissioners at 6:00 P.M. on Monday, August 10, 2020.  The meeting will be held in person and electronically.  Public participation is encouraged.  
                   PARTICIPATION IN COUNTY BOARD MEETINGS IN ACCORDANCE
WITH SOCIAL DISTANCING REQUIREMENTS
In order to minimize the spread of the COVID-19 virus, Dickinson County is providing alternative means for “Public Comment” during the County Board meetings. These alternatives allow the County Board to adhere to social distancing requirements.
SUBMITTING COMMENTS BY E-MAIL If you choose not to attend the County Board meeting but wish to make a comment on a specific agenda item, please submit your comment via email by 3:00 p.m. on Monday , August 10, 2020 to County Controller Brian Bousley at bbousley@dickinsoncountymi.gov.
 
VIRTUAL PARTICIPATION BY ZOOM CONFERENCING Dickinson County is now offering the ability to participate in County Board meetings through telephonic conferencing via “Zoom” conferencing computer technology. Instructions for participating via Zoom are provided below.
 
How do I join the County Board meeting via Zoom Conferencing?
Please visit: https://zoom.us/j/886427399 and either sign-up for a free Zoom account or continue as a guest. Once you have downloaded the app on your smart phone, joined from your web browser, or downloaded the Zoom software on your computer you will be ready for the County Board meeting on August 10, 2020 at 6pm. If you have previously signed up for Zoom, you can enter the following meeting ID to join the meeting: 891 4529 2129 and then enter password: 248115
 
I don’t have a computer or smartphone; can I still use Zoom? 
If you don’t have a smart phone or computer to access the meeting via Zoom, no problem! You can participate on the phone, by calling 1 312 626 6799 and entering meeting ID 891 4529 2129 and password: 248115
How can I provide Public Comment on Zoom?
Chairman Henry Wender will request public comment during the Public Comment periods on the agenda.  Once Chairman Wender has announced the public comment period, please do one of the following.
USING A COMPUTER OR SMART PHONE:
• Click on the “Raise Hand” feature in the “Manage Participants”. This will notify the County Controller that you have raised your hand.
• The County Controller will unmute your microphone when it is your turn to provide public comment.
• A prompt will appear to confirm you would like to be unmuted. Once you accept the prompt, you will have five minutes to provide public comment.
• Once your public comment has ended, you will be muted again.
USING A REGULAR PHONE:
• Dial *9 (star 9), this will notify the County Controller that you have “raised your hand” for public comment.
• The County Controller will unmute your microphone when it is your turn to provide public comment.
• You will hear “you are unmuted” and then you will have five minutes to provide public comment.
• Once your public comment has ended, you will be muted again.

All regular County Board meeting are always the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month at 6:00 PM. at the Courthouse in the Circuit Courtroom.

The Finance Committee meetings are always the 3rh Thursday of the Month at 6:00 PM. at the Courthouse in the Commissioners room.
