Register of Deeds

The Register of Deeds Office is where people record documents relating to land transactions. Different types of deeds as well as land contracts, mortgages, liens, surveys, land corners and lease agreements are recorded at the Office. The Office also has copies of plats and corner records.

How does someone search for documents? 

Register of Deeds online search   
Simple searches can be performed by the Register of Deeds staff using a legal description and/or name provided, depending on the date of recording. For in-depth searches, customers will need to contact a local title Company or an independent title searcher. We do not perform title searches.

How much does this research cost?
       

Tract Index Fee (recordings prior to 1994) = $6.25 per 15 min.
Computer Search Fee (recordings after 1994) = $5 per search
Copies = $1 per page (paper or PDF copy)
Search fees can be paid with cash, check or credit.

Methods of payment accepted:

  • Cash (not able to break large bills)
  • Checks and Money orders

  • Credit card use incurs service fee 
       Credit card payments must include:  Full Name on Card, Card Number & Expiration Date (MM/YY), 3-Digit V-Code & Billing Address.
